1. Who we are
Verdant is a plant identification app developed and operated as an independent app. If you have any questions about this policy, contact us at support@kraus.studio.
2. What data we collect
We collect the minimum possible:
- No personal information. Verdant requires no account, login, or registration.
- No camera data uploaded. When you scan a plant, the image is processed locally on your device. No photo is transmitted to our servers.
- No location data. Verdant does not request or use your location.
- No analytics or tracking. We do not embed third-party analytics SDKs (e.g., Firebase, Mixpanel, or similar).
3. Camera permission
Verdant requests access to your device's camera solely to enable plant scanning. Camera access is used only while you actively use the scan feature. Images are analyzed on-device and immediately discarded — they are not saved, uploaded, or shared.
4. Subscriptions & payments
Verdant offers optional auto-renewable subscriptions (weekly, monthly, yearly) through Apple's App Store via StoreKit. All billing and payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We never see, store, or process your payment details. Your subscription status is verified locally through Apple's StoreKit framework.
For billing questions or cancellations, manage your subscription in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
5. iCloud & local storage
Any data you create within Verdant (such as browsing history or preferences) is stored locally on your device only. We do not use iCloud sync or any cloud backup on our end.
6. Third-party services
Verdant does not integrate third-party advertising networks, analytics services, or data brokers. The only third-party interaction is with Apple's App Store for subscription management, which is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
7. Children's privacy
Verdant is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Because we collect no personal data at all, Verdant is inherently safe for all ages.
8. Data retention
Because we collect no personal data, there is nothing to retain or delete. Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored app data from your device.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under GDPR, CCPA, or similar regulations to access, correct, or delete your data. Since we do not collect personal data, these rights are automatically satisfied. If you have a concern, contact us and we will respond promptly.
10. Security
As no personal data is transmitted to or stored by us, there is no data at risk on our end. All processing happens on your device, protected by iOS's built-in security model.
11. Changes to this policy
If we ever change our data practices, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. Material changes will be communicated through an in-app notice. Continued use of Verdant after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
